New Directions for Adult Education (NDAE.org) is a group of active and retired DACE teachers which strives to improve the working conditions, benefits, and pay of DACE teachers and improve the quality of the education delivered to adult students. The group is not affiliated with UTLA nor its Adult Education Committee, although we are members of UTLA and pro-union. Without allegiance to an entity, we can be an independent voice and sounding board for teachers. We want a frank and open discussion about what will improve the working adult education teachers’ salaries, working conditions, and adult education instruction.
CTE teachers finally have tenure! Governor Newsom signed AB 2245 into law last month, which grants CTE teachers who work in district-run CTE programs such as LAUSD a pathway to permanent status and the job security rights of their fellow teachers. It goes into effect July, 2025.
